Our St. Birgitta\u2019s Cap is modeled after a existing cap that is believed to belong to St. Birgitta of Sweden that is kept as a relic today. \u00a0The cap dates to between the 13-16th centuries. \u00a0There are medieval period sources depicting the St. Birgitta\u2019s Cap from Italy, France, the\u00a0Netherlands\u00a0and Scandinavia. \u00a0It was most likely common throughout all of medieval Europe.\u00a0\u00a0Women in the middle ages always covered their hair and a plain white cap or coif<\/a> with straps can commonly be seen in medieval artwork such as\u00a0the\u00a0Maciejowski\u00a0Bible. \u00a0The St. Birgitta\u2019s Cap is a great way to keep your hair off\u00a0your neck in hot weather. \u00a0Adding headwear to your medieval garb adds to the authenticity and complete look of the outfit. \u00a0The St. Birgitta\u2019s Cap can be worn for a variety of different time periods and places. \u00a0It can also be worn as a foundation layer to attach a veil<\/a> to. \u00a0Our St. Birgitta\u2019s Cap is generously sized and can be adjusted using the straps for all head types. \u00a0Our cap ties closed in the back but you could also use pins or sew the straps together to form a loop.\u00a0<\/p>

To wear the St. Birgitta\u2019s Cap first start with\u00a0your hair up in a bun or braids at the back of your head. \u00a0Put the cap on and cross the straps in back. \u00a0Pull the straps to the front and cross them again. \u00a0Pull them to the back of the head either above or below the bag that holds\u00a0your hair and secure the straps by tying, pinning or sewing. \u00a0The cap needs to fit snugly or it will tend to slip down your hair.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
