Our goal is to create garments that are flattering, functional, durable, and affordable while preserving a historical line. As there are very few surviving examples of medieval clothing our work, must of necessity, be interpretive. Working from museum fragments, illuminations, paintings, and written references we strive to combine elements common to a given style into a new garment that could be representative of the period while also being affordable. When altering a pattern to make it more affordable to produce we do not sacrifice the authenticity of the historical silhouette. Finally, we test each piece for function, durability and comfort(we live and work and play in uor clothes , too!). The military garments are further tested on the field under the stress provided by experienced combatants.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

We select our fabrics carefully,<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Balancing research, function and color. Whenever possible we use natural fabrics, working mainly in linen, silk and wool. We use cotton where necessary on some garments(for example, the lining of our Linen Gambesons and Pourpoints) for cost and durability. Our sumptuous brocades and velvets are made from various blends.<\/p>

Nicole has a BS in Design from the University of Cincinnati School of Fashion Design and has been professional clothing and costuming designer for close to twenty years. In conjunction with these professional skills she brings a lifelong passion for historical clothing and the romance of bygone eras they evoke, while her experiences as a reenactor and active member of the historical swordsmanship community gives her practical insight into both arming clothes and civilian clothes. She believes strongly in producing readily available clothing that fits and flatters with a period accurate look that is still comfortable to live and play in.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Jill holds a masters degree in anthropology from Case Western Reserve University. Her love of history has spurred her interest in period clothing. She has been designing clothing since her teenage years and as with her participation in the the medieval reenactment community she has focused increasingly on researching and reconstructing medieval fashions. Her expertise in research is instrumental in our production of designs that are accurate to period and her wealth of experience with regard to pattern drafting, fit and design is fundamental to the quality garments that we produce.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
